Easter has descended on Harbour Island in a scarifying social whirlwind, no golf carts for hire, no rooms at any price and huge yachts parked (?) in the bay unable to rent a berth for love or money. It’s not all bad news though, far from it.
Last week I could have been found teaching the Crown Prince of Ruritania how to play "Smoke on the Water", serenading the Duchess of Nargs as part of an impromptu Calypso group, or 'stirring it up' at drinks parties behind the wooden shutters of Dunmore Town or on the windy private beaches of Eleuthera.
A few days ago half the people here were related to Queen Victoria somehow. Walking down the street was like thumbing through a two year old copy of 'Hello' magazine at the dentist.
We could have replayed the Great Game on the Pink Sands beach instead of the puny billionaires five-a-side we actually endured.
I was rebuffed by Princess and film starlet alike, with the remarkable speed the 'jet-set' has always used to sift out undesirables and peasants like me, so alas I am going back to my music!
Thunderstorms awoke the Island on Tuesday blowing out power and telephones with a flick of their tails, but before they went down I was thrilled to learn of coming summer shows in the West.
