Dear All,
Over the past year Luke, Jim, Mark Taylor, Dorie and I have been working on the songs that were too 'electric' to be on 'Water Taxi'. In my garden shack we have been putting together a swampy little demo. It is our intention to do a real recording session sometime this year.
Working titles include Mr. Pullen, Sleepy London and Don't Bring Nothing. I hope the style reflects it's pastoral up bringing with my humble Zomerlust Hampshire studio apeing the carefree ambience of Woodstock and Bearsville.
It is great to work with these superb musicians in this rustic paradise and after a few hours of 'creative' with the blow heater on your shins, you really welcome the pint of bitter and the ploughmans in the local whilst the landlord pricks up his ears to catch the latest shattering iconoclastic impertinence that is the every day chit chat of the 'touring musician'.
Mr. Pullen is one of the invisible or never heard characters in the Archers and Don't Bring Nothing was inspired by the Len Deighton story 'Horse under Water'. Another song is called, The Man Who Lost America, a name given to the British P.M. at the time of American independence. Fruity!
We have a nice clubhouse feeling coming through on the tracks and I will put some rough mixes up on this site under the provisional heading Los Angeles en el Ritz.
Thank you to the players who have come over. I anticipate being able to announce some US shows soon!
